Following a fire during the summer holidays, 95% of the original school buildings were destroyed, leaving only the old sports hall and a recently constructed brick building in tact. The school needed to be operational for the start of the new school year in September to teach its 1000 students, meaning a race against time for all involved.Solution :
After a two-week consultation and planning period, Portakabin agreed the final design and layout of the interim campus with the school and Zurich Municipal. Throughout August, 44 classrooms, kitchens, a dining hall, library, ICT suites, changing rooms and toilets were constructed. Portakabin provided a complete one-stop-shop solution, including climate control systems for the ICT suites, access ramps for the classrooms, a comprehensive fire and security alarm system and classroom furniture. After a two-week consultation and planning period, Portakabin agreed the final design and layout of the interim campus with the school and Zurich Municipal.
"Portakabin provided us with all the buildings, furniture and services in a very short space of time. This enabled us to have students back in school as quickly as possible – in fact, only one week after the official start of term. We are all delighted with the new school, and the facilities in some areas are more up to date than we had before. My thanks go to Portakabin for the excellent service we received from the very beginning, and for their total dedication to this project.
"I would feel most confident in recommending Portakabin to any school needing quality building stock against a tight schedule."
