Requirement:  When world-leading transport solutions manufacturer Bombardier decided to focus its UK train manufacturing operations in Derby, its depot in the city had to prepare for a huge influx of staff. Since the existing offices could not accommodate the extra personnel, high-quality office accommodation had to be found quickly – in time for the relocation of employees from all over the country.

Solution:  Having used Portakabin buildings in the past, Bombardier was aware of the high standards of its accommodation solutions, as well as the fact that they can be installed on site very quickly and easily.

Bombardier chose to hire 19 Pullman buildings, due to their generous proportions and high-quality construction. Portakabin delivered and installed the buildings on the agreed date and in plenty of time for the arrival of the relocating staff. A corridor links the 19 separate buildings, and each provides spacious, open-plan accommodation.

Helping Bombardier to fulfil its obligations under current legislation, Portakabin was able to provide three DDA-compliant access ramps. Plus, as part of its one-stop-shop solution, Portakabin supplied steps and landings for the fire escapes, a fire alarm system, toilet facilities, and a climate control system – creating a complete, comfortable working environment for staff to move straight in to.
