Does Portakabin Protecta equipment meet current regulations?
Yes. All equipment supplied by Portakabin Protecta meets the appropriate EU and British Standard approvals. The systems are designed in accordance with these standards and are installed and maintained by approved engineers.

Will we have to arrange for the systems to be checked over from time to time to ensure that they function correctly?
A full maintenance programme is included within the hire charges for our systems. The frequency of the maintenance visits is determined by the appropriate British Standards and by the complexity of the systems supplied. We will contact you in advance to arrange for a convenient time for this work to be completed.

How will I know how to use the systems installed?
On completing the installation, an engineer will run through the functions of any control panels for your fire or intruder alarm, and will leave an operations manual on site for further consultation.

What paperwork will be left with the equipment supplied?
To satisfy Building Control Regulations or building insurers, you may have to provide proof that the systems meet British Standards. When work is completed on site we will provide you with certification to prove compliance. When fire-detection systems and emergency lighting are supplied, the certification will be included within the operations and maintenance manual. This manual also includes instructions for the daily and weekly testing of the system, a maintenance log book and system diagrams.

What happens if something does go wrong?
All Portakabin Protecta installations come with an emergency contact number for assistance, which is available 24 hours a day. If the problem on a fire or intruder alarm cannot easily be rectified over the phone, an engineer will be on site within four hours.

Does the equipment supplied by Portakabin Protecta meet Building Regulations?
Fire-detection and emergency-lighting systems are often required on buildings to comply with Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations, which are regulated by the Building Control Officer. The design of your Portakabin Protecta system will be based on the layout of the Portakabin building to be supplied. We will consult with you about any risk assessments you have made in relation to the use of the building and its impact on the site location. We always recommend that the designs we propose are checked with your local Building Control Office prior to final acceptance.

Can Portakabin Protecta systems be monitored off-site?
Yes. To add further peace of mind, an Alarm Receiving Company (ARC) can monitor all fire-detection and intruder alarms, as well as CCTV systems. The ARC will automatically be alerted if an alarm is triggered and, depending on the level of service required, will contact nominated keyholders or the emergency services. If this service is required, please let us know before your systems are designed.

Do your systems need to be connected to our existing alarms?
No. There is no need to arrange for expensive alarm connections into your temporary building, since Portakabin Protecta systems will work independently of any existing provisions. If you need to integrate our equipment into an existing alarm system we can provide technical advice to assist you.
