* Hire fleet buildings met the requirements of all Building Regulations at the date of manufacture.
Buildings in the Portakabin range can be configured to house from one to more than 1,000 people. Our team of specialists will be happy to advise you on the most suitable type and size of building for the number of people you need to accommodate and the building's intended use.
The cost of our buildings includes all relevant professional fees to carry out the design and construction of your building. We will initially draw up some indicative guidelines on cost, layout, specification and programme. If you wish to go further, by moving towards planning permission without going to contract, a small charge will be made for further work. However, you will only have to pay this if the project does not proceed.
Yes. However, if you wish to employ your own sub-contractors or suppliers, it is important that they are assessed in the same way as our existing suppliers.
Yes - we can offer a full design and build service. We are also happy to work with other contractors, as required.
Yes, subject to individual site surveys. We have installed buildings on rooftops using structural steelwork. We can also crane buildings over existing structures and into enclosed courtyards. Multi-storey capability means large buildings can be created on small footprints or small parcels of land.
Portakabin buildings can meet the requirements of these regulations and the obligations of the Equality Act 2010, to meet project-specific needs. You should seek clarification of these requirements from your local Building Control department before finalising your accommodation solution.
You should contact either our Sales Customer Services team on 0845 200 9999 or your local Visitor and Hire Centre on 0845 401 0010, who will provide ongoing support after your building is delivered. They will act quickly to remedy any problems you may have. Remember that all new buildings purchased are covered by a comprehensive warranty package for your complete peace of mind.
You can hire Portakabin buildings for any length of time, giving you the flexibility to keep your building for as long as you need it. A member of your local Visitor and Hire Centre team will be happy to advise you on the options available.
A range of optional extras is available to enhance the security of your building and prevent break-ins. These range from steel shutters and window guards to intruder alarm systems.
All Portakabin buildings are fitted with a consumer unit, tested to BS7671. A qualified electrician must connect the consumer unit to a mains supply. We advise you to contact your communications systems provider to arrange connection to computer and telephone systems.
We will make all arrangements for the delivery of your building. Modular and portable buildings are transported by road on a flat-bed lorry or trailer platform and positioned using a lorry-mounted or standard crane. Modular buildings are then mechanically moved into position using lifting eyes.
You will need to keep access to the site completely clear of obstructions, allowing enough space for the vehicle delivering the building. Suitable foundations or a level hard-standing area must be available to accommodate the building. Portakabin will advise you on these matters during a site inspection.
Portakabin buildings are constructed with a steel outer wall, steel roof and galvanised steel floor frame. The walls are injected with foam insulation to give them a high thermal efficiency. This method of construction provides you with a building that requires very little maintenance and offers a high degree of comfort, all year round.
A portable building is a stand-alone, self-contained building that is delivered in one piece by road and installed on site ready for immediate use. A modular building is constructed from two or more individual building modules. The modules are delivered to site by road, craned into position and connected together to create buildings of any size, with multiple storeys, to meet individual requirements. Portakabin portable building models include Titan, Solus, Pullman and Pacemaker. Our modular building systems include Ultima, Ultima Vision, Duplex, Classrooms and Lilliput.
This depends on the surface the building will be standing on, and the type of building. Portable buildings that will be located on hard standing will only require shims. For other surfaces, or for modular buildings, only pad foundations are necessary. The foundations required will depend on the site conditions, the building weight and floor loads, so we will always advise you on your individual requirements. Portakabin can take care of all groundworks for your building, if required

Yes. Our buildings offer ready-to-use working environments that meet the requirements of The Building Regulations, The Building Standards (Scotland), and other permanent building regulations - including Part M (2004).*
