Requirement: When Lafarge Aggregates, the UK’s largest producer of construction materials, was called in to work on a project just outside Peterborough, the company quickly needed to get office accommodation on site for its team.

The company had always used the same supplier for its temporary accommodation in the past, but because of the poor service they had received they were keen to look elsewhere. The Portakabin Peterborough Hire Centre was not far from the site of the project, so Lafarge approached the company to see what it could offer.

Solution: The promise of high service standards set out in the Portakabin Customer Charter, combined with a promise to deliver buildings on an agreed date – and to compensate the customer if this date was missed – encouraged Lafarge to choose Portakabin to supply the temporary buildings for this project.

An order was placed on a Friday, and four large Pacemaker office buildings were delivered to the site on the following Wednesday, as agreed. Two were open-plan, and two included a partition wall with an area for sinks and worktops. Two Portaloo units with access steps were also supplied, and the office buildings were fully kitted out with furniture by Portakabin Interiors, so that office staff could move straight in.
