Bond Air Services provides the most comprehensive helicopter support network for emergency services in the UK. They needed to upgrade the
accommodation for pilots and paramedic crews at Inverness in order to comply with stringent NHS infection control standards.
Bond turned to Portakabin because other suppliers had not been able to assist in the past when faced with unusual requirements. The team at Portakabin created a single storey building that incorporates two Titan units, along with a Pacemaker building, delivering high quality accommodation for pilots and staff.
Shaun Strain, Director of Ground Operations, Bond Air Services, says: “Our air ambulance team are on call 24/7 to respond to emergencies across Scotland and there was a need to upgrade facilities for the team in Inverness.”
The new building had to be fully compliant with very strict NHS infection control standards and access for delivery was only available via the airport runway.
Specialist needs included the incorporation of infection control measures such as wipe clean walls, safety flooring and covered skirting, clean and dirty storage areas and a slophopper device for waste disposal.
Shaun adds, “Portakabin also co-ordinated complex arrangements for access with the airport so that building units could be driven down the runway for installation during a very small window of opportunity.
“The project was delivered and installed on time and we are delighted with the quality and finish of the building. The high standards of professionalism and commitment shown by the team at Portakabin were a key factor in the success of the project.”
