To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the modular building provider’s Teesside Hire Centre, the company is sponsoring the college’s A-level business studies course, which will see the top-performing student rewarded with a cash prize.
Over 50 local students are currently pulling out all the stops in their coursework in an attempt to secure the accolade.
Phil Dunn, Manager at the Portakabin Teesside Hire Centre, said, ‘Students taking courses such as A-Level Business Studies are the people we want to work with in the future. By forging links with the college and providing an extra incentive to succeed, we hope to be able to help them in their studies which will provide strong foundations for success in their future careers. All the students are trying really hard and competition is certainly strong. I’m very much looking forward to finding out who the successful student is.’
Carole Horseman, Assistant Principal, at Hartlepool Sixth Form College, said, ‘We’re delighted that Portakabin has chosen to sponsor our A-Level Business Studies course as part of the Teesside Hire Centre’s fifth birthday celebrations.
‘Developing relationships with well-known businesses such as Portakabin is a key priority for us as it exposes the students to the ‘real world’ of business. This is beneficial to them in their studies as it enhances their understanding of how companies that they may work with in the future actually operate.’
The anniversary celebrations at the Teesside Hire Centre, on Portrack Lane in Stockton-on-Tees, will take place on 17th and 18th May, when local businesses from across the region will be invited to come along and celebrate with the Portakabin team.
Malcolm Ward, Head of Membership for the North East Chamber of Commerce, will also be attending the Open Day on 18th May.
