Requirement:

When a fire destroyed over a third of its buildings, Sidney Stringer School in Coventry required permanent-standard, interim replacement facilities - fast. The fire had wiped out classrooms, IT suites and an entire sports hall. The school needed fully functioning facilities as quickly as possible to ensure that student learning was not disrupted.

Solution:

After initial discussions to determine the school's exact requirements, Portakabin was commissioned to provide an entire interim accommodation solution. Within just 10 weeks, Portakabin had created and installed an extensive 3,519m² two-storey school.

The leading modular building provider delivered full classroom facilities for CDT, ICT and Business Studies, art rooms, PE changing and teaching spaces, theatre space, a self-contained sixth form block and staff rooms as well as office accommodation.

Portakabin utilised its one-stop-shop service to prepare all groundworks and foundations prior to delivery of the new buildings. After installation, stair-wells, ramps, full security systems and complete data-communication facilities were put in place by Portakabin so that the buildings were ready for immediate use.
