Skateco UK Ltd has operated premium-quality ice rinks in London during the winter months for the past three years. For the first two years it provided a showcase ice-skating facility at Canada Square in Canary Wharf and in its third year added another rink at the high-profile O2 Arena. While marquees provide suitable accommodation for the rinkside café and viewing areas, Skateco needed a more secure, robust building to house its box office and management office where cash and important documents would be handled.Solution :

Portakabin worked with Skateco to specify a building that fulfilled its requirements. As tickets would be sold through the windows to customers outside the building, all windows needed to have sliding openings and be located along one side.
The Pacemaker building supplied by Portakabin in the first year proved to be the ideal solution. For the following year, the building was adapted with a partition wall to provide a separate on-site manager’s office, as well as the box office. In the third year, Portakabin supplied the same split Pacemaker building for Canary Wharf, as well as two buildings for the O2 Arena ice rink – one a box office and the other a manager’s office.
Delivering buildings into these prestigious central London locations required a lot of coordination between the authorities, hauliers and Portakabin, to ensure that all of the strict documentation and permission requirements were met. Portakabin successfully delivered all buildings on time, as promised by its unique Portakabin Customer Charter. This commits the company to delivering all buildings on time and on budget and promises that if it fails to meet this commitment Portakabin will provide a week’s free hire for every day it is late or an additional 12 months’ warranty on buildings that are purchased.*
Buildings were delivered complete with heating, electrics and all communication points in place, enabling Skateco to simply move its equipment straight in and set up ready for business.
