Choosing a Portakabin portable or modular building means choosing a complete, ready-to-use building, installed and fitted out by the specialists. The price you are quoted for your project includes the site surveys, electrical testing and certification, and health and safety plans that are required to get your building safely and efficiently installed and ready for use - on time and on budget. That's why our prices represent such great value for money - because there are no hidden extras to increase the cost after the contract is signed.

The surveys we carry out as an integral part of our service are:

Site surveys
To fully assess your requirements, the layout of your site and the access to it, one of our team will visit you to carry out a detailed site survey, free of charge. This will take between 15 minutes and an hour, depending on the size of the site and the complexity of your project. Our surveyor will assess how the site is accessed, looking for any narrow gateways, sharp bends, low cables and other obstructions. We will assess the orientation and gradient of the site, the nature of the road surfaces and the ground on which the building will be sited, so that suitable foundations can be specified. We'll identify electricity, gas, water and other service connection points to help us draw up accurate plans for your new building.

Electrical testing
Unlike many other modular building suppliers, we don't charge anything for full electrical testing of your building - it's all included in your price. All electrical components in our modular and portable buildings are fully tested and certified before your building is handed over. Your building will be certified to meet all IEE wiring regulations and NICEIC 17. Portable buildings are tested at our premises before delivery to your site. Modular buildings are tested once the building is installed, as part of the hand-over process. We provide full method statements for our work and carry out detailed risk assessments, to comply with all of your health and safety requirements.

Health and safety plans
Portakabin has vast experience of safely delivering buildings of all sizes to some of the most challenging sites, governed by the strictest health and safety regulations. In fact, we have an accident incident rate for RIDDOR that is 33% less than the average for the construction industry. If we are appointed as principal contractor for your project we will act as CDM co-ordinator and collate all of the necessary risk assessments, construction phase plans and method statements for the project. If you have appointed your own CDM co-ordinator, we can supply all of this information to them, and answer any health and safety queries they may have. We have standard method statements for the installation of all our portable and modular buildings, but these are always adapted to meet the demands of each project and site.
