Rapid company growth meant that traditional quality cider maker, Thatcher’s Cider, quickly needed to find new accommodation to house its expanding workforce. New offices could not be incorporated into the company’s existing production facilities, so new buildings were required. At the same time, auditors advised the company that additional toilet facilities were needed to cater for its growing number of staff.
Thatcher’s Cider were aware of the quality buildings available from Portakabin, since they regularly hired Portakabin buildings during the fruit-picking season, and so approached the company for a more permanent solution.Solution :
After considering various options, the company chose to buy two Titan buildings as the ideal solution for the space available. The buildings were configured in a two-storey layout, with a staircase and a landing area for access.
The buildings were installed against the gable end of the firm’s production building, where the colour of both structures blended well. Meanwhile, a Portaloo toilet block was quickly sourced by Portakabin to meet the company’s requirements.
The Titan buildings purchased by Thatcher’s Cider now house a fruit testing laboratory – conveniently situated next to the fruit processing building – a distribution office, a canteen area, and a changing and locker room.
Neil Day, Engineering Director at Thatcher’s Cider, says: “Our staff are very happy with their new accommodation, and have quickly settled in. People were able to start work in the buildings just one day after they were delivered.
“We already knew about the quality of Portakabin buildings from past experience, and because we needed new accommodation so quickly, Portakabin was the perfect solution. The buildings also give us greater flexibility, since we have the option to move them to a different part of the site if necessary in future.”
