The Theatre Royal in Glasgow is the city’s oldest theatre and home of Scottish Opera. A major refurbishment project to create a new entrance, spacious new foyers, cloakrooms, hospitality suites, bars and toilet facilities meant that existing foyer areas and toilets had to be temporarily closed down. Short-term toilet facilities needed to be provided for theatregoers during the building works.Solution :
Scottish Opera's Client Representative Steve Green, says: “This was landmark project and we were catering for a discerning theatre-going clientele, so it was important to choose a high standard of interim toilets. We looked at a number of suppliers and finally chose Portaloo because they could provide the high quality of buildings we were looking for at the right price.”
Portaloo supplied three of its premium-quality toilet buildings to provide the short-term facilities required. Spacious, well-ventilated Portaloo toilet buildings are equipped to domestic standards with fully flushing toilets, high-quality sanitaryware, hot and cold running water and a high standard of fit-out.
For this prestigious project, the buildings had to be located on a busy road adjacent to the theatre, giving guests easy access from the main building. Delivery was arranged for a Sunday morning to minimise disruption to traffic. The buildings were craned into place on a closed lane of the road, between high buildings.
Steve says: “The Portaloo delivery and installation teams did an excellent job in a very restricted space. They worked efficiently and professionally to get the job done on time, as planned. All we had to do was connect power and cold water supplies and the buildings were ready for use.”
“The Portaloo toilets were clean, bright and presentable, providing us with exactly the quality of interim facilities we needed. They performed well throughout the hire period, and the service from Portaloo was professional and responsive at all times.”
