Portakabin rebrands to full service modular building specialist


Eight Portakabin businesses have been rebranded to provide customers with a simpler, easier and faster modular construction experience.

Design and Build, Konstructa Hire, Foremans Refurbished Buildings, Portaloo, Oecon, Allspace and Portakabin Group have all been rebranded into one Portakabin brand. The united brand will provide customers with even more choice while continuing to deliver exceptional on time and on budget solutions.

The market leading modular construction specialist carried out extensive customer research with B2B insight experts in order to gain a holistic awareness into what Portakabin customers expected from the multi-national brand.

The Portakabin brand, which has remained largely unchanged for 50 years, partnered with worldwide brand consultant Landor to develop new brand architecture and a completely new visual identity to better engage with its customers and employees.

Hsu-Ying Fullick, Creative Director at Landor explained: “We recognised how Portakabin wasn’t being associated with the exceptional design-led projects it was delivering; day in and day out. So we created an identity that will allow the business to demonstrate the wonder of modular; not only via the architecture itself but also the overarching benefits these buildings provide Portakabin customers. Spaces to learn, to heal and to innovate. It’s really helped capture the spirt and skill behind everything Portakabin stands for.”

Once completely in place, the eight connected Portakabin businesses will start to widen the range of products and services on offer, increase the scope of business capabilities and provide customers with dedicated international teams to adapt to their specific needs. The one Portakabin brand will also provide a one-stop solution for customers looking for advice, guidance and expertise on modular buildings and their benefits.

As part of the process, Portakabin has introduced a refreshed and more versatile logo, a completely bespoke modular font and updated photography, as well as a revitalised style and tone of voice.

Hsu continued: “There has been a small and subtle shift in the logo. By grounding the logotype within the tab and then freeing the tab to behave as the product, we’ve created a modular asset that can fluidly adapt to different communications layout requirements. It’s an intelligent change to a brand with a high value legacy.”

The new brand reaches customers in an instantly recognisable, inspiring and attractive way with emphasis on the capabilities of a Portakabin solution, which is complemented by precise engineering precision and a scientific approach.

The pan-European rebrand will take place throughout 2017 with a new website to launch the following year.
