Our specially designed fleet provides quality, comfort and style that is second to none. The Konstructa Energy-Saver range incorporates a number of features to reduce energy use and deliver cost savings.
External walls are of a durable one-piece construction and are a solar reflective white in colour. High-performance, low-maintenance, polyester-coated, galvanised steel cladding offers protection against fire, extreme weather and accidental damage. The walls are clad internally and externally and are of a polyester-coated galvanised steel, providing an impact resistant, wipe clean finish.
The floor has a rigid galvanised steel frame and an aluminium-zinc coated steel sheet underdrawing, which offers a sturdy and robust feel. The design also prevents infestation as the thermal insulation material is laid on top of the underdrawing. The suspended floor is completely integrated into the structure of the building. This enables the building to be sited close to the ground for one-step easy access. The floor covering is durable hard-wearing vinyl, for easy maintenance.
Outstanding insulation is provided by the construction of the roof. The roof deck is of one-piece construction and is impact resistant. It is covered with solar-reflective, profiled plastisol-coated, galvanised steel to reduce heat gain. Internally, the ceiling is designed to prevent condensation problems. It is covered with the same polyester steel as the walls for a low-maintenance finish.
Protection against theft and vandalism is given by the high-security heavy-gauge steel door with a 10-point locking system – Euro Cylinder, complete with a robust lever handle and escape override on the inside. The door also incorporates a stainless steel threshold and anti jemmy bolts on the spine of the door and is designed to meet stringent security standards. The paint finished galvanised steel doors have an insulating core that minimises heat loss and the powder coated steel frame also incorporates draughtproof weather seals.
Windows have distinctive square-cornered PVC-U tilt and turn frames and polyester powder coated paint finish. Externally mounted steel window shutters incorporate secure spring-loaded retaining bolts as well as anti-jemmy features to prevent break-ins. Opening windows have lockable handles with keys. The windows are fully double-glazed for excellent thermal and acoustic performance and a thermal break prevents condensation problems.
A variety of predefined solutions are available in an array of sizes for convenience and speed of delivery, including site offices, toilets and showers, changing and drying rooms, canteens and mess room, containers and welfare units. For more complex construction sites, Portakabin Site Accommodation also has the flexibility to customise internal layouts and provide combination units to suit specific needs. Buildings can be linked and double or triple stacked in multiple configurations to form larger complexes and suit site requirements.

Portakabin Site Accommodation is the only site cabin manufacturer to use CFC-free ozone friendly foam insulation in all energy-saving fleet site buildings. This innovative insulation performs 42% better than the rock wool alternative which over time dislodges and falls down within the wall cavities, reducing thermal performance. All the walls, doors and roof are insulated with this environmentally friendly CFC-free Envirofoam that has no adverse impact on the environment and is a rigid polymer insulation material that is lightweight and yet enhances long-life structural strength and ensures an energy-efficient building. Upgraded underfloor insulation further reduces heat loss.

Fire-engineered construction ensures safe fire performance. Non-combustible materials are used for all external cladding and internal lining of walls and ceilings; minimising the potential fire load. The walls and floor have Class ‘O’ external surface spread of flame classification, and the roof is designated FAA when tested in accordance with BS 476 : Part 3.
A variety of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems can be provided for the enhanced comfort of occupants. Time-clock regulated heating that comes as standard prevents wastage and efficiently preserves required temperatures. For natural ventilation all units feature wall-mounted integrated louvres with internal coverings.
Transport and handling
Portakabin Site Accommodation buildings are transported by lorry and craned into position. All buildings have, as standard, provision for low-level lifting which supports The Work at Height Regulations 2005 to avoid the increased hazards associated with working at height. Galvanised steel ladder brackets also provide enhanced safety during roof access.
Toilet Units also incorporate non-standard windows and doors so are of a slightly different technical specification. Please contact your local Hire Centre for further information.
