Konstructa Fire-Safe buildings have been purpose-designed to offer the highest levels of fire containment, as well as protection against theft and vandalism.

All Portakabin Site Accommodation anti-vandal site accommodation is manufactured using robust all-steel construction methods combined with modern, innovative designs. Our specially designed fleet provides quality, comfort and style that is second to none.

Fire performance
Konstructa Fire-Safe buildings have been fire engineered to ensure safe fire performance and to demonstrate compliance with the fire resistance requirements of The Joint Code of Practice on the Protection from Fire of Construction Sites and Buildings Undergoing Renovation: Section 13,Temporary Buildings and Temporary Accommodation.

The Konstructa Fire-Safe building has been independently tested and certified by Warringtonfire. WF Assessment Report No. 326969

Non-combustible materials are used for all external cladding and internal lining of walls and ceilings; minimising the potential fire load. The walls and ceiling have Class ‘O’ external surface spread of flame classification, and the roof is designated FAA when tested in accordance with BS 476 : Part 3. The building has half-hour fire resistance in multi-storey mode when tested in accordance with BS 476 : Part 21, section 7.

External walls are a durable one-piece construction. The polyester-coated galvanised external and internal steel cladding offers protection against fire, extreme weather and accidental damage. The high performance, low maintenance surface provides an impact resistant and wipe clean finish.

The floor has a rigid galvanised steel frame with an aluminium zinc coated steel underdrawing, preventing infestation to the thermal insulation material laid on top. This gives the floor a sturdy and robust feel. A structural floor deck covered with a fully bonded vinyl sheet adhered to the top of the frame, giving a durable, hard wearing floor covering.

Outstanding insulation is provided by the construction of the roof. The roof deck is of one-piece construction and is impact resistant. It is covered with solar-reflective, profiled plastisol-coated, galvanised steel to reduce heat gain. Internally, the ceiling is designed to prevent condensation problems. It is covered with the same polyester steel as the walls for a low-maintenance finish.

Protection against theft and vandalism is given by the high-security heavy-gauge steel door with a 16-point locking system – Euro Cylinder, complete with a robust lever handle and escape override on the inside. The door also incorporates a stainless steel threshold and anti-jemmy bolts on the spine of the door and is designed to meet stringent security standards. The powder coated finished galvanised steel doors have an insulating core that minimises heat loss and the powder coated steel frame also incorporates draughtproof weather seals. A low-level threshold improves access and can help you to comply with the Equality Act 2010.

Automatic fire curtains are fitted to all inside windows to provide 30 minutes integrity. Windows have distinctive square-cornered aluminium frames and polyester powder coated finish. Externally mounted steel window shutters incorporate secure spring-loaded retaining bolts as well as anti-jemmy features to prevent break-ins. Opening windows can be locked. The aluminium windows are double-glazed and offer good thermal and acoustic performance.

Building layout
A variety of predefined solutions are available for convenience and speed of delivery, including site offices, toilets, changing and drying rooms and mess rooms. For more complex construction sites, Portakabin Site Accommodation also has the flexibility to customise internal layouts and provide combination units to suit specific needs. Buildings can be linked and double or triple stacked in multiple configurations to form larger complexes and suit site requirements.

Portakabin Site Accommodation buildings are quickly and easily sited. The need for pad foundations is dependant on site conditions, total weight of the building and the imposed loads. Advice on foundation loads and positions will be given by Portakabin Site Accommodation staff.

Structural integrity
Peace of mind is provided by the high levels of all-round performance achieved by the Portakabin Site Accommodation building series. All Portakabin Site Accommodation buildings have been designed and manufactured in theUK under a Quality Management System meeting the requirements of ISO 9001 and also meeting the ISO 14001 environmental standards. Robust all-steel construction and a specially-designed antivandal specification means Portakabin Site Accommodation units provide optimum security on site.

Thermal insulation
The walls, doors and roof are insulated with environmentally friendly CFC-free Envirofoam: a rigid polymer insulation material that is lightweight and yet enhances long-life structural strength and ensures an energy-efficient building.

Climate control
A variety of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems can be provided for the enhanced comfort of occupants. For natural ventilation all units feature wall-mounted integrated louvres with internal coverings.

Transport and handling
Portakabin Site Accommodation buildings are transported by lorry and craned into position. All buildings have, as standard, provision for low-level lifting which supports The Work at Height Regulations 2005 to avoid the increased hazards associated with working at height. Galvanised steel ladder brackets also provide enhanced safety during roof access.
